Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup

Welcome to my fancy little corner of the great big ol' internet. I enjoy reviewing makeup, talking about makeup, and playing with makeup. I also talk about my crazy, chronic neurological condition and my husband's immigration to America. Today I will be reviewing Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup.

Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup

This product isn't new; but I had never noticed it until recently. When I noticed it I read the display card next to it which read "Instant hydration with coconut water. Luminous look that lasts all day. Shine free formula made with water, not oil." I was intrigued. I really enjoy the foundations from the Revlon Colorstay line so I expected this product to perform equally well. It comes 2 formulas, Mineral Makeup and Mineral Finishing Powder. The Mineral Makeup comes in 8 shades, while the Mineral Finishing Powder comes in 4. I chose the Mineral Makeup over the Mineral Finishing Powder in order to receive a little more coverage to wear with BB creams.

The packaging is a screw off top with a small brush included in the top. If it was all I had I would use it but I definitely prefer my ELF Powder brush. There is a sifter that sits a little deeper down so there is plenty of room to dip a brush in. The screw mechanism works well and powder doesn't seem to fly everywhere when you open it.

The back of the package says "Instant hydration with a flawless luminous finish. All day wear."  Now I will tell you that the interesting thing is that it provides a cooling sensation when you put it on. Actually I should say a cool water sensation which is bizarre. The first time I put it on I had to run over to my husband and put some on his hand just so that I could ensure I wasn't crazy. If that were the only thing I was reviewing this product would easily get an A. It's an awesome effect.

It does provide some coverage but certainly not enough to even be labeled as light . So as a 'Mineral Makeup' this powder is certainly failing. You can clearly see my splotchiness even with a heavy application with this powder. I bought this one over the finishing powder looking for extra coverage. I certainly didn't find any here.

Luminous look of the Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup
It's hard to photograph but this Mineral Makeup has a definite shimmer as well as microfine glitter. As someone with dry skin I can appreciate the luminous quality of the powder but glitter? Why?!?! Revlon, Why?!?! No one over the age of 12 wants glitter in their powder. I really wanted to love this product because I love the Colorstay foundations; but sadly I don't.
